Giving Up

Sometimes you just have to give up. Move on. Let go. Sure, it might be difficult to do. Maybe even a little sad, but it needs to be done. You know logically that once you make the leap and let go, you’ll feel better, but still it’s hard. You resist the change even though you are certain it will be better for you in the end. MakeSpace, Marie Kondo and Minimalism

Last week I was looking at a company called Make Space, a pack/store/deliver company in New York, DC and Chicago. I talked with them about Marie Kondo’s organizing system from her book “The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up” and decided to try it and share tips. I’ve heard (a lot) about the book – enough to think it was a little Woo-Woo for me. A little “out there”, a little too much get in touch with your self, but I’m too much of a challenge accepted kind of girl to say no. Besides, what if it actually worked? Happy Mothers Day!!

I’ve been a mommy now for 24 years. Although that statement seems impossible, it’s true. It seems like just yesterday – literally – that I found out against all odds that I was pregnant with Brianna. She was my toughest pregnancy. I was so violently ill the doctors recommended inducing a miscarriage, which I declined. When she was born and I was told she wouldn’t live through her first weekend, I would have done absolutely anything to save her. Continue reading

My First Spinning Class

It’s true. I’ve never been to a spinning class. Until today. Allow me to make something clear: Being an extrovert doesn’t mean I always like trying new things, or I always want to be around people. Sometimes it’s draining for us extroverts too. Group classes are out of my comfort zone, so I’ve never gone even though I’ve heard great things about them. Until today. We’re members of a fantastic gym and I do really love to go. I prefer having a trainer work with me for an hour, and without one I feel a little lost. I like having a plan, being pushed and setting goals. Classes would be the middle man in this equation. Not one on one, but a planned workout to push me. And it was pretty fun. Continue reading
