5K Reno

My amazing coach and race director extraordinaire puts on a wintry 5K every December called the Red Nosed Run.

b03b95021386d2c22ea69e6c59ac64db_zosf_qm28Sponsored by Reno Running Company, this 3 loop 5K is cold, icy, snowy and full of energy.  Will sponsors Girls On The Run and two buses full of little girls unloaded.  I volunteer for this race – usually running the aid station – and I love the energy.  This year 3 of my kids decided to run and the rest of the family was volunteering.  Race morning showed 1* temperatures so I let the kiddos beg out of volunteering and make the decision to run or not.  Run or not??  Run.  Of course.  My kids are awesome!

The weather was so cold, the aid station was shut down so I took up my post at one of the corners and spent 2 hours in 4* cheering everyone on (Yup.  Warmed up!).  The great thing about running 3 loops is that I saw everyone 3 times.  The weather may have been brutal but the attitude was anything but.  Hot chocolate bar, lots of food, face painting, hair braiding and spraying made for a fantastic event.
